I love this place! I go almost everyday and I would love to give them 5 stars, but the customer service is a bit lacking. I almost always use the drive-thru, which is crazy convenient, but on a few occasions I have gone inside. And every time the experience has been lackluster and taken wayyyy too long to get my smoothie. The most recent time I went inside I walked by two employees, one who appeared to be the manager, without any type of acknowledgment or greeting. Not even a smile. To me that is unacceptable! I am a customer who has just entered the business, a simple "Hi!" wouldn't hurt. So that happened, and then it took almost 5 minutes for someone to come to the register and take my order. And yes, that is after I walked by two employees who were standing in the lobby, who I had to walk by to get to the counter... So finally an employee comes to take my order, who I guess thought it was funny that I was ordering a smoothie, because he was giggling the entire time, thus making it fairly difficult to understand what he was saying AND then he couldn't figure out how to ring in my order. So I had to wait for the manager, who had previously ignored me in the lobby, to come do it which took about another 5 minutes. This was all before they even started making my smoothie, so the whole process took more than 15 minutes... getting a smoothie when you're the only customer in an establishment should NOT take that long! That was the last time I went inside. I'll stick to the drive-thru!

Stopped here on my way back from the doctor's office. I had a high fever and the sorest throat in all of humanity so all I wanted was something to dull the pain. Orange Leaf was closed (sad face) so I thought I'd give TS a shot. My smoothie (Sunrise Sunset) tasted bland and mildly artificial. One size fits all I suppose but who really needs a gallon of smoothie? And what's really in these? Shouldn't fruit smoothies have little bits of fruit in them? This looked like a blended creamsicle. I doubt there was any nutritional value whatsoever and the calorie counts are off the charts.

Love TS. Their smoothies are delicious and their cafe is pretty good as well. You can also have additives like protein or flax if you're into that. I only wish I had a location closer to me.

I would be remiss if I didn't update after today. It looks like there is a new manager or the manager was there. Much faster service, friendlier counter person. They messed up my sandwich HOWEVER, that is totally fine as my new one came out in five minutes and they sincerely apologized and gave me a free smoothie coupon. Mistakes happen, I wasn't mad and just wanted them to fix it. They were really nice about it (no eye rolls) and made up for it. Most of the previous reviews still apply, but I was actually impressed today.

Ok. Color me corrected. I initially gave a tip about the veryyyy slow drive through. But I have since had some good experiences. I shall share. When a baby falls asleep in this car, you are car bound for the duration of said nap. Major problem when you're hungry. Can't leave baby in the car to go get some chipotle and I'll be damned if I sabbotage my own kids nap. So you're left with very few healthy drive through options. That's where I've found tropical smoothies to be a great option! Good menu options for food (wraps and flatbreads, all day bfast sammiches, etc) that can be tailored to be a little healthier and are reasonably priced! And I'm not delusional - I know smoothies aren't all that good for you. Lots of sugar. But it's better than a Coke from McDonald's. I'll keep returning as long as my kid keeps falling asleep in the car. Which he is.... right now.

I have been here a few times and for the most part they were nothing short of excellent - good service, food & atmosphere! However, my last two visits were not like the others:( Don't get me wrong! Their food is awesome, service is friendly and pretty quick - and they have quite a few menu selections! On my most recent visits - the service was fast & friendly as always; however, they put a couple things on my sandwiches that I specifically requested not to be on them - tomatoes and onions (even the receipts noted this). Both times, the flatbread & sandwich had both, and I didn't realize it until I got home as they were "to-go". Also, my most recent sandwich (which had onions and tomatoes on it, even though the receipt said "no onion, no tomato") didn't taste as good, and I noticed the employees were in a hurry so I'm not sure if it was just made rather quickly, but it wasn't the normal quality I've come to expect! Overall, I would definitely recommend coming here, because like I said before - the service, atmosphere, and food are great...just the last two visits left much to be desired!

Good normal food, with fresh ingredients. Kids currently Eat FREE with the purchase of an adult meal on Sundays... Drive in can be slow, but we usually eat inside. The staff is friendly and attentive. I like the Hawaiian Breeze for my go to smoothie. A great place if you want something different from other places to eat in Maine...

Smoothies are fantastic. The employee with the tattoo underneath his right arm needs to go. I've heard him burp out loud. He also says 'what's up' to the customer when they walk in the door. Where's the management to this dolt? Is definitely not as cool as he thinks he is.

I visited the Tropical Smoothie Cafe at 154 Pleasant St., in Brunswick, ME, about 30 minutes up the road from the S. Portland store and got the lowfat Kiwi Quencher: Kiwi, strawberries and non-fat yogurt. It wasn't until I got to the pickup window that I could see the nutrition statement, which is also available online. This smoothie is advertised at 260, but the fine print is that this is the calorie count when it is made with Splenda (which I not only will not use, but have a bad reaction to). Fortunately, one must ask for Splenda. Anyway, it was so sickeningly sweet, I couldn't drink it. And, as a member of Weight Watchers, this 23 oz. smoothie comes in at 11 points! Yikes! After looking at their website when I got home, I can see more clearly about this particular smoothie: 109 g. carbohydrates and 96 g of sugar! So I called them to ask a bit more about the sugar. Their recipe calls for adding sugar and it is made with French Vanilla yogurt, not plain. Aha! It's a shame because, if made with plain yogurt, no sugar and just fruit it would probably be a nice drink.
